Early morning commute

This spiny softshell turtle, apalone spinifera, was found walking the bike path. These turtles are known to hang out at Bulrush pond near the Feynman Computing Center, so it may have wandered a bit toward IARC. Or if it's female, perhaps she's looking for some soft ground to lay eggs. Too bad it didn't know about the rule to stay to the right to allow faster traffic to pass.
