New tougher security standards for Visa Waiver Program travelers will go into effect as of April 1, 2016. VWP travelers will be required to present an e-passport with a biometric-enables chip, and travelers who since 2011 travelled to Iraq, Syria, or other country designated by the Secretary of Homeland Security will be prohibited from using the VWP.
