The West Chicago PADS homeless shelter will be opening in October, and we are in need of volunteers for all shifts.  We are open each Thursday evening from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM from October through May.  The night is broken up into four shifts: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM, 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM, and 5:00 AM to 7:30 AM.  Volunteers are asked to work only one shift per month.  We serve our guests…

Volunteers are needed to provide financial coaching and/or tax preparation assistance in Sugar Grove (Waubonsee Community College), West Chicago and Elgin. Short online or in-person training sessions are provided to volunteers. Tax preparation volunteers mainly work during tax season, after completing an online training provided by the IRS. The Education Office is now accepting nominations for this year’s Director’s Award for exceptional service to Fermilab’s K–12 education programs, funded by Fermilab Friends for Science Education. Each year, more than 200 employees, users and contractors go above and beyond their everyday duties to further outreach and education at the laboratory.
