Conductor and cellist Andrea LaFranzo is starting what will be initially called the “Fermi Community Orchestra” this September, with rehearsals and performances at the Batavia United Methodist Church in Batavia. The orchestra name reflects the hope of attracting string players from Fermilab, and celebrates the presence of Fermilab in our community. No auditions, small fee, Sunday evening rehearsals. Very sweet abandoned(?) black cat is trying to adopt me and my neighbors, but neither house can take him due to other pets. We have gotten him his shots, cleaned him up, have been feeding him. He’s still thin, maybe 6-7 lbs. He loves being petted and brushed, and will make a lovely pet. It will get too cold outside for him soon. He needs a home!
