Join the DuPage Symphony Orchestra at a FREE outdoor concert on Saturday, July 21 at 7:30 PM at the Naperville Community Concert Center. Aaron Copland’s An Outdoor Overture kicks off the DSO’s fun-filled, family concert in downtown Naperville, celebrating the majesty of nature through the music of European and American composers. Smetana’s The Moldau and Johann Strauss’s On the Beautiful Blue Danube are paired with excerpts from Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma, Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite, and Copland’s Rodeo. Bask in the sounds of sunny Spain as the DuPage Symphony takes you to the Iberian peninsula through the music of Spanish, French, and Russian composers of the 19th century. Excerpts from Bizet’s opera Carmen and Massenet’s opera Le Cid, plus short works by Albeniz, Falla, Fauré, and Granados, complement the richly colorful Capriccio Espagnol of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
