Visitors interested in taking a look behind the scenes are welcome to join Fermilab docent Nancy Lanning for a guided tour on Tuesday, March 26, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. The tour includes a look at some of Fermilab’s accelerators as well as the Main Control Room from which scientists steer more than 40,000 devices to guide particles through the accelerator tunnels. The tour will also take visitors to the 15th floor of Wilson Hall, from where people will have a spectacular view of the whole Fermilab site and more.
There is no charge for the tour, but advance registration is required. Children age 12 and older are welcome, but an adult must accompany them. For more information, or to register for a tour, call 630-840-5588 or 630-840-8258 during business hours. Groups of ten or more may schedule a separate tour on a different date.
