Fermilab welcomes Chris Beard as head of the Office of Communication

Beard most recently served as senior director of corporate communications at Burson-Marsteller in Chicago, a leading global public relations firm, where he led the development and execution of communication and external affairs programs for Fortune 500 clients.

Starting today, Chris Beard will lead the communications effort at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory as the new head of the office. He comes to the lab with over 20 years of experience in managing communications, public policy, brand reputation and stakeholder engagement for global corporations.

Most recently Beard was senior director of corporate communications at Burson-Marsteller in Chicago, a leading global public relations firm, where he led the development and execution of communication and external affairs programs for Fortune 500 clients.

Prior to that, Beard was director of global reputation management for SC Johnson & Son, and previously he served in communications and policy roles at Kraft Foods.

Beard earned a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University in Chicago and attended St. Bees College in Cumbria, England.
