Fermilab’s Integrated Engineering Research Center is now known as the Helen Edwards Engineering Center honoring the late particle physicist who led the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the Tevatron accelerator.
President Biden recently signed a bicameral resolution that changes the name of Fermilab’s Integrated Engineering Research Center to the Helen Edwards Engineering Research Center. The building’s new name honors the late Dr. Helen Edwards, a renowned particle physicist at Fermilab.

The legislation is supported by U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, who knew Edwards, and by U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood and U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth.
