Happy World Quantum Day, Fermilab advances quantum science and technology

Fermilab is hosting a national symposium that brings together experts from across the quantum information science community. The event comes as the United States expands its leadership in quantum technology and underscores Fermilab’s increasing emphasis on QIS research.

Anna Grassellino, a senior scientist and the director of the Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center at Fermilab, was honored with the Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic for her pioneering contributions to superconducting quantum technologies. Known for her groundbreaking work on superconducting radiofrequency cavities, Grassellino has helped to revolutionize and lead advancements in particle accelerators and quantum information science.

IBM plans to join Fermilab’s SQMS Center to further accelerate critical technologies and applications of superconducting quantum systems and expand quantum workforce development programs.
