Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, a theoretical physicist who made significant advancements in telecommunications, began her career at Fermilab after graduating from MIT.

Eighteen staff members at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory were recognized for their leadership and work to uphold and further the equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility principals at Fermilab. The recipients were honored with awards during a ceremony held at the lab’s iconic Wilson Hall in March.

The Science Accelerating Girls’ Engagement in STEM program promotes diversity, equity and inclusion. The second annual SAGE camp at Fermilab provided women and gender minority students a hands-on opportunity to experience work and research. The next camp will take place in July.

Under mentorship from Argonne and Fermilab experts, six high school students participated in the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics in Boston in July.
