Autumn means harvest time, and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fermilab again invites its neighbors to help harvest prairie flower seeds in conjunction with National Public Lands Day.

As summer winds down and the tell-tale colors of autumn emerge, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory once again invites its neighbors to help harvest prairie flower seeds as part of its 20-year effort to restore one of the few tallgrass landscapes remaining in all of Illinois.

As cool weather and warm colors herald autumn’s arrival, the Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, in keeping with a fall tradition, is offering area residents a chance to join in the Laboratory’s annual Prairie Seed Harvest, scheduled for Oct. 7th and 28th.
