The annual Fermilab Family Open House is being held virtually this year as a multi-day event, starting on Wednesday, February 10, and concluding on Sunday, February 14. The event this year will include virtual tours, virtual classroom visits, interactive activities that can be done at home, online talks, an online scavenger hunt, and live-streamed demo shows. With the new virtual format, we will have the opportunity to engage audiences with the excitement of Fermilab science—locally, nationally, and internationally—in the comfort of their homes. We are looking for Fermilab employees and users…

Join us for the first meeting of Neutrino Social Global (NSG, restart of Neutrino Social at Fermilab), a group of neutrino scientists, experiment collaborators, and aspiring young neutrino minds from around the world who get together in a relaxed setting for conversation, discussion, networking and fun. Each NSG will have a special guest who will entertain various (nonphysics) questions from the participants. The first meeting takes place on Zoom on Friday, Dec. 18, at 3:30 p.m. CST. To join the…

The PIP-II Project, the first DOE particle accelerator project receiving substantial international in-kind contributions, held its first all-partner technical workshop from Dec. 1-4. The remote workshop included over 300 registered participants from seven countries spanning 11.5 time zones. The primary goal was to facilitate communication between the broader technical teams responsible for delivering hardware to PIP-II.

The Snowmass LOI process has provided an opportunity to engage the community and understand needs and opportunities. As a continuation of that process, we will have a one-day virtual workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 15, to discuss the concept of installing a constant field proton accumulator ring in the Booster tunnel and the HEP studies that could benefit. The workshop will be roughly segmented into Booster Accumulator Ring design consideration and implementation, while the afternoon will be dedicated to HEP use….

An important part of the new vision for IARC at Fermilab is increasing regional engagement – capturing activities that bring regional institutions together to exchange information and resources and increase our collective impact. As an early step toward this new vision, Fermilab, along with University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory, hosted an online workshop on Nov. 9 focusing on strategic opportunities to collaborate on artificial intelligence research: “Partnering to Advance AI Research & Development.”

The next virtual laboratory all-hands meeting will take place on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Central time. The meeting will provide an update on the state of Fermilab. An invitation link to the virtual meeting will be sent in an all-hands email on Nov. 11.

On Nov. 2, the Falling Walls Foundation hosted an online panel titled “Falling Walls Circle Table: The Next Big Machine – Does CERN Need Another Supercollider?” A video of the hour-long panel discussion is now available online. Fermilab Director Nigel Lockyer was one of the panelists. The others were Zulfikar Abbany of Deutsche Welle, Ursula Bassler of the CERN Council, Jeremy Farrar of the Wellcome Trust and Beate Heinemann of DESY. With CERN’s Large Hadron Collider in full swing and…
