How the unstable muon could revolutionize experimental particle physics

The American Physical Society has honored researchers at Fermilab for their outstanding contributions to physics. These recognitions include major APS prizes and fellowships, underscoring the laboratory’s leadership in advancing scientific discovery.

The experiment demonstrated the power of liquid-argon time projection chamber technology for neutrino research, and to date, the collaboration has published more than 80 scientific papers, helping lay the foundation for Fermilab’s neutrino research program.

The Short-Baseline Near Detector has logged the largest sample of neutrino interactions in liquid argon in the world. Newly elected, Andrzej Szelc will co-lead SBND during the next phase of the experiment.
