Fermilab’s new director Norbert Holtkamp returns to the lab with a clear mandate: deliver DUNE, honour the laboratory’s legacy of bold leadership and reaffirm big science’s responsibility to society.
Sowjanya Gollapinni has been elected as the new co-spokesperson for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, succeeding Mary Bishai. Gollapinni is a senior scientist and the Neutrino Group Leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory and has been involved with DUNE since 2015. Now, she will co-lead the project to its next stages of development.
Dr. Lia Merminga stepped down as laboratory director on Jan. 13, 2025. Dr. Young-Kee Kim has been named as interim director. The new search for a permanent director will begin immediately.
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory announced Jim Kerby as project director for Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (LBNF/DUNE-US) He will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project in the U.S. as Fermilab leads the execution of the largest international DOE project ever hosted on U.S. soil.
