Obedient plant

nature, flower, obedient plant, plant, prairie

The obedient plant, a native prairie wildflower, was recently blooming in abundance in the prairie on the north side of Pine Street. Obedient plants are so named because gently repositioned petals — for example, petals that are rotated around the stem — stay put.

You might see this as you head along Pine Street, across the street from the Interpretive Trail entrance. It seems lonely in the big prairie.

Head fire

Flames from the head fire on the edge of the Main Ring help speed the burning process.
