Last year, rising high school senior Ketandu Chiedu from Walter Payton College Prep spent her six-week TARGET internship in the Fermilab Office of Communication. Working with her supervisor, Lauren Biron, she interviewed scientists working on the Fermilab-hosted Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment as part of the Faces of DUNE series. Mentor and mentee met up recently to discuss the internship program and what the future holds.

Call for proposals for new University of Chicago-Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory undergraduate internship program The University of Chicago has established an educational program for undergrad research experience through the new College Innovation Fund. The College Innovation Fund Undergraduate Internship Program (CIFUIP) experience will bring selected students from the University of Chicago to a Department of Energy national laboratory to conduct research over two (2) consecutive summers. Many of the Fermilab summer internship programs are in need of one-on-one employee mentors or advisors for students. I ask that you consider participating this year in one of the many programs we offer to high school and college students who come to the lab to work and learn during the summer months. Many of the internships are science- or engineering-based, but we are looking for mentors from everywhere across the lab.
