For all of us, 2020 has been an interesting year full of unique challenges and unique opportunities. The Education and Public Engagement Office has used this time of change to focus on broadening the national and international reach of our efforts via new, virtual opportunities. In this column, I’d like to feature some of the highlights of the past year.

The annual Fermilab Family Open House is being held virtually this year as a multi-day event, starting on Wednesday, February 10, and concluding on Sunday, February 14. The event this year will include virtual tours, virtual classroom visits, interactive activities that can be done at home, online talks, an online scavenger hunt, and live-streamed demo shows. With the new virtual format, we will have the opportunity to engage audiences with the excitement of Fermilab science—locally, nationally, and internationally—in the comfort of their homes. To best achieve this goal, the EPE office has gone through a strategic planning process to guide us in the coming years.
