Fermilab’s Don Lincoln explores if additional dimensions of space exist beyond our 3-dimensional world. Maybe the exploring the existence of ghosts can offer up some clues?

The Fermilab Natural Areas was one of three organizations who were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions to pollinator conservation. FNA received the Pat Miller Community Engagement Award for their comprehensive outreach and public engagement about ecology, native plants and land stewardship.

Fermilab opened a brand-new quantum laboratory known as the “Quantum Garage” intended to use quantum computing to expand the boundaries of science and engineering and find solutions to pressing challenges including national security, medicine and clean energy. The Muon g-2 collaboration recently reported a new measurement of the so-called positive muon magnetic moment anomaly to a precision of 140 parts per billion. The collaboration’s findings are published in the journal Physical Review Letters.

Starting this month, crews will prepare an area on the Fermilab site close to Kirk and Giese roads for the construction of the new facility for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment.

Fermi Research Alliance awarded Prof. Yasar Onel, from the University of Iowa, a grant to design a helium gas regulation system for neutrinos at the Main Injector beam monitors at Fermilab. The grant also allows for work on a gas regulation design study, prototype and consultation on a gas regulator system for the DUNE NuMI beam monitors.

Although neutrinos are the most common matter particle in the universe they are also known as ghost particles because they move through our bodies every second without ever interacting with us. Neutrinos won’t be scaring anyone on Halloween but they will be studied by scientists in the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment led by Fermilab.
