Don Lincoln highlights how a recent development described in the journal Nature involving miniature particle accelerator technology could advance cancer treatment. Although the technology is a long way from being perfected, it could take the form of a pocket-sized accelerator that could irradiate tumors more precisely without damaging health tissue.

The Chicagoland region is continuing to be recognized as a national leader in quantum technology. Recent events include the opening of the Quantum Garage at Fermilab. This designation and the collaboration among Illinois universities and national laboratories like FermiLab and Argonne will spark a new wave of research, innovation and experimentation.

Are parallel universes real?

Fermilab’s Don Lincoln explores if additional dimensions of space exist beyond our 3-dimensional world. Maybe the exploring the existence of ghosts can offer up some clues?

Construction work at Fermilab near Kirk and Giese Roads

Fermilab representatives provided an update about the upcoming LBNF site preparation work to members of the Batavia City Council on Nov.6. Starting this month, crews will prepare an area on the Fermilab site close to Kirk and Giese roads for the construction of the new facility for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment.

Kmele Foster, host of Dispatches from The Well, visited Fermilab last spring to speak with scientists about how exploring the mysteries at the heart of particle physics can help us better understand some of the most profound mysteries of our universe. This Big Think production features Bonnie Fleming, Don Lincoln, Doga Kurkcuoglu and Rachel Pfaff.

What is the shape of space itself?

Don Lincoln explores Einstein’s theory of general relativity as introducing the concept of space having a shape. So, what is the shape of space?

Fermi Research Alliance awarded Prof. Yasar Onel, from the University of Iowa, a grant to design a helium gas regulation system for neutrinos at the Main Injector beam monitors at Fermilab. The grant also allows for work on a gas regulation design study, prototype and consultation on a gas regulator system for the DUNE NuMI beam monitors.
